Essex Reverse rock crystal carving and painting is one of the few art forms of modern times to develop in secrecy, being passed on from one generation to the next. The popularity of these "tiny masterpieces" began in the second half of 19th century and soared as the twentieth century began and they remained quite fashionable until the early 1930’s.
This 'Being' ring depicts a horse hand-painted on vintage crystal surrounded by diamonds and yellow citrines.
