BIBI VAN DER VELDEN

Bibi van der Velden studied fine arts in Florence, Italy before honing her eye at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Bibi launched her namesake brand in 2006 and creates jewelry and sculpture from her studios in Amsterdam and Portugal. Bibi's Dutch heritage can be found in her pieces, with the country's rich art history one of the many influences on her work.

Bibi describes her jewelry as "miniature sculptures." Working with sustainable and unexpected materials such as 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk and scarab wings.  Nature and the animal world are constants that inspire Bibi's designs. Bibi hand-sketches and hand-carves the initial concept for each piece in wax.

"Jewellery is a very personal way of expressing yourself, of being different to everyone else. I like jewellery to speak without words, and bring you joy when you wear it."
